After finishing his deduction, Schiller continued.

"We must admit that without examining this alien weapon, I can't infer any more of its specific abilities. So I assumed the most difficult scenario."

"That is, Blue Beetle had no invisibility, couldn't pass through metal walls made of special materials, couldn't directly alter the memories of those who knew the truth, and couldn't control people's actions."

"If it had none of those limitations, carrying out this case would have been much easier. For example, if it could turn invisible, it wouldn't need to worry about blind spots in the surveillance coverage. If it could pass through walls at will, it wouldn't need to go to the trouble of escaping. If it could freely control others, there would be no need for projections at all—it could simply control Zan directly, then erase or alter his memory afterward."

The other students naturally understood. With The Truth still a black box, they could only speculate, and Schiller had clearly assumed Blue Beetle was in its weakest possible state.

If he insisted that it could control people and alter memories, then perhaps Zan had never fainted in the storage room at all. Perhaps it had controlled him through the entire sequence, then altered his memories afterward.

In other words, the projection sounded miraculous, but it was actually the method Blue Beetle would use under the assumption that it was relatively weak.

But regardless of which scenario it was, the logic held together.

Still, some students had questions, especially regarding motive. One looked at Schiller and asked, "Professor, I understand that Blue Beetle needed a scapegoat to divert everyone's attention so it wouldn't be noticed. But why Zan?"

Quite a few people had the same question. Logically, it would have been far easier to frame Claude and Gonzalez.
