Lunch was as perfunctory as ever—more like a snack convention, really. There were no cooking utensils in the golf course lounge, and Schiller couldn't cook anyway. Fortunately, he had prepared sandwiches in advance, and they only needed reheating.
Any discussion about the future of Mutants was far too heavy. Besides, without any research findings, they couldn't figure out what was going on through speculation alone. They decided to set the subject aside and wait for Reed's results.
During lunch, Stark suggested they get back on track. After all, they had gathered here for his wedding. He thought everyone should hold a seminar that afternoon and actively contribute ideas about the format of his wedding.
Since the sun wasn't too harsh that day, Steve suggested they chat while having fun by the pool. Stark thought that was far too informal, but everyone else supported Steve's proposal, since most of them still hadn't tried the slides Schiller had prepared.
Stark wanted to say something else, but Eddie—or rather, Venom—said to him in a sarcastic tone, "Oh, is little baby Stark afraid of a slide that high? Do you need your Daddy Venom to protect you?"
Stark was so angry that he agreed on the spot.
Still, a minor dispute arose at lunchtime. Pepper enthusiastically invited Loki to be her bridesmaid, and the two were discussing the design of the bridesmaid dresses. Then Stark just had to stick his nose in and say Loki should be his best man.
It should have been a good thing. They both needed Loki, which fully demonstrated Loki's importance. But Stark's damn mouth had a way of turning good things into bad ones.
