Loki's mind was spinning at high speed.
Fast enough to review all of Asgard's history in a second, yet he still could not figure out, in these few short seconds, why he was seeing a Schiller without glasses here.
Something was wrong. Very wrong.
People said that smart people always liked to overcomplicate problems. There was some truth to that, and at least Loki was doing exactly that now.
Of course, he would never have guessed that Dario's security procedures for Schiller had been so thorough that they took away his glasses and never gave them back, leaving him with none to wear.
But Loki's instincts were right, of course, because Schiller was indeed using some of the skills possessed by the version of himself who did not wear glasses. That gave him some of the other man's aura, and his danger level was rising exponentially.
Sensing danger, Loki turned to run, but he seemed to remember something. He forcibly stopped himself halfway through turning around, then instead took a step back and tried to find an excuse to slip away.
Do not ask why he did not just silently open a portal and flee. A monk could run, but his temple could not. He could run today, but could Asgard run tomorrow?
Just as Loki was racking his brains for a suitable reason to leave, Schiller, standing beside him, suddenly said, "You came at just the right time, Prince Your Highness. Mr. Agger seems very interested in Asgard's culture and art. I hear that you are quite knowledgeable in this field as well. Perhaps the two of you could talk. It may help him relax and ease his anxiety."
Loki glanced at Dario and thought, Excellent. You may be able to run, but your temple cannot. Just you wait!
