Oliver returned a little earlier than expected. They had said he would arrive the next morning, but he actually got there before dawn. A few hours before he arrived at Metropolis Airport, the Justice League had just gotten off work and gone home to sleep.
Batman was shocked by this. He simply could not imagine a Justice League in some universe that got off work at eleven at night.
But what shocked him even more was that Wonder Woman of this universe told him this already counted as overtime. Normally, they would not get off work later than 6:30 p.m.
Even Lex, who had been negotiating with Injustice Batman, started packing up after ten.
That left Injustice Batman somewhat baffled. It could even be said to have disrupted his rhythm during the negotiations, because he had no idea what Lex was about to do.
It was not until the lights were turned off and the doors locked that Injustice Batman realized Lex's series of actions had apparently been preparations for getting off work.
Then they really did leave the building like Luthor Corp employees, exchanging greetings as they headed for the parking lot to drive home.
Batman, who had been watching television with them earlier—just Batman, for short—followed the crowd out of the building with a blank look on his face, having no idea where he was supposed to go.
Injustice Batman, meanwhile, was left alone in the safehouse, with no idea what he was supposed to do either.
Still, the two of them reached the same conclusion: Lex Luthor seemed extremely confident in Luthor Tower's security and was not worried in the slightest that they would search the place under cover of night.
But how could Batman possibly not do exactly that?
After all the employees had left and
