Schiller saw the message, put down his phone, and got up to change. He was attending Jonathan's dinner that evening. Although it was still early, Charles was going to Metropolis with Barry and the others, so he felt he should meet them first in case they couldn't adapt to someone talking inside their heads.
They had agreed to meet in front of the statue in the square, but when Schiller called Barry, he was at Quezel's cold drink shop. Remembering that unbearably sweet sparkling water, Schiller quickly declined Barry's offer to buy him a cup.
Schiller drove to the shop just as Barry and the others came out carrying drinks. He walked over and discovered that they had rented a red pickup truck. Besides the drinks they had just bought, it was loaded with plenty of food.
"Are you planning to drive all the way to Los Angeles?" Schiller asked, looking at the supplies in the truck. Gotham was less than four hours from Metropolis, and there was no way they could eat that much.
"We're going to do physical labor," Pamela said, poking her head out from the passenger seat. "Besides, the Justice League will reimburse us. Buy more snacks now, and we won't have to worry for the next few days."
"I hope Oliver won't object to you eating snacks during meetings," Schiller said with a shake of his head. "Though I doubt he will."
Harley pushed open the door and jumped down. Taking the drink from Barry, she looked it over and said, "You didn't get the new mint flavor?"
"Oh, come on, I don't like mint. It tastes like liquid toothpaste." Barry made a disgusted face. "That peach flavor you released last quarter was great, but it got pulled off the shelves too quickly."
