Two people were still standing at the end of the corridor. Batman recognized one of them at a glance.

"Victor Fries?" Batman called out his name.

The man walked over, shook Batman's hand, and said, "That's me. You must be the Batman from another universe the Director mentioned, right? I'm Victor Fries. I teach in the Physics Department at Gotham University."

Batman nodded at him, then asked, "You weren't affected?"

Victor shook his head. "I barely ate anything, so I wasn't poisoned. But my friend and I drank quite a bit, and nothing happened to us. The toxin may not have been in the alcohol."

Batman turned to look at the friend beside him. In truth, he felt these people all had a similar air about them: tall and thin, dressed in old-fashioned suits with sharply raised shoulders, wearing glasses. They looked like refined, easygoing intellectuals.

"Schiller Rodriguez." Schiller smiled and nodded to him.

Batman found the name somewhat familiar, especially "Schiller." He seemed to have heard someone mention it before, but he couldn't recall where no matter how hard he thought.

"I'm a professor in Gotham University's Psychology Department. My office is right next to Professor Freeze's. Neither of us had classes this afternoon, so we ate some snacks and didn't have much at the banquet. Neither of us was poisoned."

Batman glanced again at Jonathan Crane in the interrogation room. Since the man was already here and couldn't run, it would be better to gather more information from others first. That would give him more and stronger chips when they faced off later.

So he had Superman stand guard outside Jonathan's interrogation room while he went with the other two professors into the reception room next door.
