"How did you know someone was Sowing Discord?"
A message like that appeared on Schiller's phone. He knew Brainiac had sent it.
"I inferred it from the existing facts. And I could tell he was hiding something."
"You obviously know more."
"Yes, but he's a child. His psychological resilience isn't that strong. There are some things he doesn't need to hear."
"But you can tell me."
"Tell you what?"
"What exactly did you see?"
"You mean you want me to tell you that Old Shazam was worried about Mount Olympus's recent situation, while also realizing that his Inheritors were gradually slipping beyond his control. Those two anxieties striking at once had caused him to gradually lose his mind. He desperately wanted to use Shazam to prove that he still had power, and that his previous choice had been correct."
"And you want me to tell you that what he learned through Billy about the current state of the human world also dissatisfied him. An excessively strict order was not conducive to the survival of a rat like him, one hiding behind the scenes. So he wanted to repeat his old trick: drive Billy and his new family apart, then use his brief but intense negative emotions to cause a major incident and show people the flaws in this order."
"And you want me to tell you that his target was most likely the construction site of Brainiac Center. He would act tomorrow night. He would use his superpowers to topple the remnants of the half-demolished Devon Tower, kill more than ten workers pulling an all-nighter, then contact their families while your control over the peripheral network was still insufficient and form a resistance army against Brainiac?"
Brainiac was silent for a long while before replying with a string of ellipses.
