A dim yellow sunset. Then came screams, blood, and maniacal laughter, with roars echoing in his ears. The stench of blood kept drifting into his nose. Something was being pursued by endless malice. It leaped from a towering building...

Batman jolted awake.

He took several ragged breaths, then quickly threw off the covers, sat up in bed, and rubbed his face hard.

He had had another nightmare. Certain fragments always repeated themselves in his dreams. Even Batman had to admit that Superman occupied a far more important place in his life than he had expected. The day the tragedy happened had become a shared nightmare neither of them could escape.

Superman was close to losing his mind. Batman knew that clearly.

With a bang, the door flew open. Just as Batman expected, he saw those cold light-blue eyes.

"When are they coming?"

Batman looked up at him. At that time, there still seemed to be no emotion in his eyes, yet something brewed beneath the ice, giving off terrifying malice and madness.

"I don't know," Batman said. "There's no way for me to be certain. Besides, they won't be willing to help you."

"They have to help me." Superman stared at him. "As long as I can go back to the past, I can save Lois. It would be effortless for them. They have to help me!"

Batman slowly closed his eyes. He knew Superman had stepped into an irreversible trap.

Resurrection, rebirth, returning to the past, reversing tragedy.

No. Nothing in this world came without a price. Batman thought. When they reset their universe, they retained the memories of outsiders. Perhaps they were simply waiting for a fish to take the bait.

Batman had much to say. He wanted to tell Superman that the other side truly could reset
