Schiller and Billy got out of the car. Schiller took Billy's backpack out and said, "Wait here for a moment. I'll take your backpack inside, then we'll go eat at the Community Canteen."
Billy nodded and looked around the yard. Schiller went inside to put down his backpack, changed into a trench coat, and headed toward the canteen with Billy.
By now, nearly every community had a Community Canteen converted from a former restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On weekdays, they usually only provided breakfast and dinner, which people could either eat there or have delivered.
Schiller started work relatively early, so he generally had breakfast delivered and walked over for dinner himself.
The reason he chose to eat dinner there was that their community's canteen had been converted from a High-end Lakeside Restaurant. The setting was excellent. The original chefs had kept their jobs as well; while they still made the same sorts of dishes, master chefs paid more attention to detail than ordinary cooks. Even their sandwiches tasted better than those from the school cafeteria.
After entering the restaurant, Schiller found the table Brainiac had reserved for him by its number. There were not many people in their community, and they had arrived early, so this time their table happened to be by the lake.
Schiller deliberately checked the menu on his phone and found that the restaurant now allowed extra orders as well, and its add-on menu differed from the school restaurant's. He spotted several familiar dishes, all specialties of the head chef. Apparently, the menu had been adjusted according to the chef's abilities.
