There were quite a few enhanced humans in Marvel, and each had their own distinctive combat style. The most famous was, of course, Captain America. To put it in game terms, Hulk was the tank of the Avengers, Hawkeye was the marksman, Iron Man was a highly mobile fighter, while Captain America was a fighter built for durability, serving as an off-tank most of the time.
Spider-Man and Black Widow, on the other hand, were both Assassins. Neither of them usually fought head-on. Instead, they used their agility to keep their opponents in check. In team battles, Spider-Man specialized in crowd control, using his webs to restrain enemies, while Black Widow was a burst-damage Assassin who could accurately seize a fleeting opening in the chaos and deal tremendous damage.
That was the main reason no one else in the Avengers wanted to provoke her. In a direct fight, neither Captain America nor Iron Man feared Natasha. But Black Widow would always hide in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity, all for the single instant when you exposed a weakness—then she would finish you with one devastating combo.
No one could stay fully armed twenty-four hours a day. Even if you knew a venomous spider was watching you from the darkness, it was hard to avoid a moment of distraction or lowered guard. Black Widow never missed an opportunity. She was a born killer.
In private, the Avengers sparred with one another and served as each other's training partners. Their abilities differed, and some countered others, but everyone found Natasha a headache. Even in a cramped dueling arena, she would never confront you head-on. She would keep dodging, draining your stamina and patience until you revealed an opening, then kill you in a single strike.
