He knew this universe might differ somewhat from his own, but he had chased after them in too much of a hurry and had not had time to investigate this universe properly. As a result, he had no idea this universe had no Batman, nor did it have a Robin.
When he had encountered Jason earlier, he had felt that Jason's attitude was somewhat strange. But every Jason in every universe had a strange attitude toward him, and Batman had long since grown used to it.
Dick's outfit was also somewhat unconventional. But from the moment Dick left the Robin team, every outfit he wore had seemed unconventional to Batman. Dressing like an owl was not all that much more outrageous than a blue-and-black bodysuit, so Batman had instinctively overlooked the change.
