Batman slowly picked up a tissue and wiped the water off the table. Laughing Man's voice echoed through his mind, refusing to fade. It had been a long time since he had felt so unsure of what expression to make.
Batman tried to understand Laughing Man's thought process. For example, maybe he was tired of being Batman and wanted a different identity—one that would let him shed his infamous reputation and perhaps infiltrate Battleworld to gain access to more universes.
But Laughing Man had already made contact with this universe's Jason. In the vast majority of universes, Jason Todd was Robin. Most Batmen were only mildly suspicious of Robin; a little acting would be enough to earn their trust.

For Damian's sake, there was always room for negotiation between the two of them. As for gender, it was probably the least important issue to Laughing Man.
If he thought those two were not physically strong enough, Dick was also a good choice. This universe's Dick had received training from the Court of Owls, feared no pain, and was highly skilled. Taking his body would not have been bad either.
Why did it have to be Schiller?
Batman changed his line of thinking. Perhaps Laughing Man believed Schiller had ruined his plans, so he deliberately wanted to cause Schiller trouble rather than truly seize his body.
But that did not hold up under closer consideration. Laughing Man was in a terrible situation now, and the only card he had left was using the metal eyepatch to brainwash people. But brainwashing was not foolproof. If anyone discovered it, he would be dead. Persuading Jason through rhetoric
