Ilvermorny's library was a separate cylindrical tower. To get from the school infirmary to the library, one first had to leave the main castle, either through the rear entrance into the central courtyard or through a side door onto the covered bridge. Neither route was short, but since the Principal's office stood on the far side of the central courtyard, Bruce and Owlman chose the covered bridge.
"Why are you being so sneaky?" Bruce, walking ahead, asked Owlman behind him.
"I was about to ask you why you're strutting around so openly." Owlman could not help looking at him. He glanced around and said, "This school is full of wizards. Aren't you afraid they'll notice you?"
"If I were afraid of being noticed, would I be out wandering at night?"
Owlman had no response.
"You seem to know a lot about magic." He started another topic.
"If I didn't know anything, would I come here just to have paranoia triggered by excitement, like you?"
Owlman fell silent again.
Actually, during the early days after Battleworld began, he and Bruce had gotten along fairly well, because Bruce fit his image of a younger brother perfectly.
Most Batmen were far too mature. The classic Batmen represented by Main Universe Batman might have only been around forty, but they carried themselves as though they were four hundred.
Owlman felt an indescribable resistance toward Bruce Waynes who were overly mature. A healer could not heal himself, much less Owlman, who could hardly be called a professional psychologist. He did not know why he found them so unpleasant, only that he kept his distance from such Batmen out of respect. Yet every time he saw one, he felt miserable. Over time, he ended up at odds with that whole group of Batmen.
