When Schiller woke up in the morning, he was still a little dazed. He had spent a long time the previous night trying to understand that dark magic knowledge, and he had basically gotten it right. In his view, the stuff really was far too difficult.

It was not that there was too much content, or that it was especially hard to comprehend. Rather, too many parts skipped around. It was like reaching the end of studying mathematics and feeling that the subject was somehow incomplete. Beyond what geniuses had discovered lay nothing but blank space.

Schiller felt that this might be because the thing had been created by a devil, after all. Even if Mephisto was considerate toward humans, he could not possibly think entirely from a human perspective. That meant there were many things he believed he had already derived when, in reality, he had not. There was only a result.

The Archmages took that result and used it directly, only to suddenly discover that it did not work under certain conditions. They traced it back to its source, but found nothing at all. As a result, the conclusion was inexplicably abandoned. The replacements they sought grew more and more complicated until it became a pile of "spaghetti code."

It had taken Schiller a great deal of effort just to sort out the relationships involved. He was not sure whether Owlman could truly understand it either. Still, that was fine. If Owlman understood it too well and really used such methods against Main Universe Batman, he might leave the other man scrambling for a while. Understanding the general idea was enough.
