"I don't know what you think of Amazon," Wonder Woman continued. "Without meaning to boast, my homeland is very beautiful. The moonlight there is purer than anywhere else. Would you be interested in seeing it?"

The hand holding Wonder Woman's glass paused slightly. Schiller had said "Themyscira," not "Amazon." Generally speaking, outsiders could not distinguish between the two.
Amazon was the name of a country, a small nation located in Amazon, or perhaps more accurately, a tribal confederation much like the United Arab Emirates. Themyscira was one of its tribes, and also its most powerful one.
But Amazon itself was an obscure little country, and no one cared much about the distinctions between its tribes. Just as few people could name the most powerful emirate within the United Arab Emirates, most people knew only Amazon and not Themyscira.
