Washington. President's office. 3:00 PM.
The enormous floor-to-ceiling windows reflected ice-blue eyes like a polar storm and the man's handsome face. His lips were pressed together slightly, his solemnity making him seem like a statue. Lowered lashes concealed the complexity in his gaze, and his entire being radiated a cold, austere air. The compassionate, benevolent god among men revealed another kind of unfeeling, merciless divinity—less like Jesus of the New Testament, more like the indifferent God of the Old Testament.
This was the sight that greeted Main Universe Batman when he entered the office. He knew little about Injustice Superman, but even so, the immense difference in temperament between this man and the Superman he knew still surprised him.
On the way here, he had already learned that after the universe of the Injustice League suffered Brainiac's invasion, Injustice Superman had abandoned his former strategy of ruling Earth through force. Instead, he had legally become the highest ruler of the federation, unifying the three branches of government even faster than Arkham Batman had.
Compared to what he had done, even Arkham Batman seemed like a mild reformist. In just one day, this vast continent no longer had any democratic system. Congress had been dissolved outright, military mutinies violently suppressed, and public protests rendered useless. From then on, there was only one star on the Stars and Stripes: the great President Kent.
No one would have imagined that on the day the Kent Law was enacted, Clark Kent would become the greatest president in United States history among its hundreds of millions of citizens. In truth, he had lived up to that title.
The moment Main Universe Batman saw the increasingly harsh tax policies aimed at the wealthy in the bill, he knew Superman had become a different kind of "superman."
