The car slowly came to a stop beside an apartment building. The three got out. Schiller did not take the sniper rifle. Instead, he readied his pistol, opened the trunk, and tossed The Punisher his gear.
The Punisher slung a compound bow over his back, held a rifle in his hands, and wore a close-combat dagger at his waist. He nodded at Schiller.
"From here on, we'll be relying on you, Bruce." Schiller looked at Bruce. "Check Dr. Pym's apartment and find out who took him. The two of us will protect you."
Bruce nodded as well and headed toward the apartment building. The Punisher followed behind him and turned to Schiller. "With a helper like this, things are a lot easier for you, aren't they?"
"That's what I brought him here for." Schiller quickly followed Bruce.
This was a relatively old apartment building on the outskirts of Manhattan, so it had no security guards, property management, or cameras. That made things convenient for the culprit, but it also made things convenient for the three investigators. They even took the elevator straight up to the eighteenth floor.
There were three apartments per floor. Pym's was on the east side. The door had a fingerprint lock. Bruce inspected it carefully, then held out a hand to Schiller.
Schiller took a pair of gloves from his pocket. After Bruce put them on, he felt around the fingerprint lock. No one knew what he pressed, but a keyhole suddenly appeared beneath it.
He took a lock pick from his own pocket and fiddled with the keyhole for a moment. The lock was quickly picked.
