The Main Universe Avengers were not discouraged by the loss of Main Universe Iron Man. They almost immediately threw themselves back into work. But they did not, as Coulson had said, "go weed the universe"—with so many superheroes gathered here from across the Multiverse, someone else could handle such trivial work. As for why he wanted to refuse, Main Universe Captain America saw it much more clearly than Iron Man did. Even if the genetically modified humans had good recovery abilities and were not badly wounded, their weapons would not repair themselves.
