They were several women: one wore a green robe and held a flaming spear-blade; another had a mess of green hair, with silver blades extending from all ten fingers; one wore a red cape and carried a short staff; another wore a black-and-white bodysuit and wielded a long whip; there was also a blonde in a white bodysuit, and a fiercely built woman who barely looked human.
"Bzzzt—bzzzt—hello? Hello, can you hear me? It's Natasha." A Black Widow's voice came over the channel. "Among Darkseid's Dark Elite, there's a capable lieutenant called Granny Goodness. She commands and trains a special unit known as the Goddess of Vengeance Squad. They specialize in combat and assassination, so you'd better be careful."
"Is the intelligence reliable?" Steve asked.
"Don't worry. A noncombatant universe sold it to us. The Intermediary is reliable, so there shouldn't be a problem."
"Give us the useful stuff," Stark said. "What were that fire and those blade flashes earlier?"
"The flames came from Bernard's spear—the one in the green robe. Her superpowered dagger can burn up stabbed enemies from the inside. Once she hits you, it's almost impossible to escape. The blade flashes came from Mad Harriet and Gilotina, the green-haired one and the woman in white. Both of them can cut things apart."
"You also need to watch out for the particularly strong one. Her name is Heavy Tread. She has Superhuman Strength, and those boots of hers can crush any dense material. Even your metal armor probably won't survive them. Don't get close to her."
The last of everyone's hope died. Who knew what kind of spell Batman had cast on Darkseid for him to deploy even his elite troops in full force?
Then again, Asgard was risking everything to help them too. They couldn't expect to
