Yet when he got there, there was no spectacle to watch—only Main Universe Batman turning the tide with overwhelming force. So this had all been put on specifically for him, was it?

Besides, Owlman had never been content to serve as a lucky charm. What he wanted was to be a leader with real authority. He wanted to display his might like Main Universe Batman, making the Batmen of the Multiverse bow their heads before him. That was the status he wanted.
But with Main Universe Batman performing so well, what room was there left for him to shine? Most Batmen already looked down on evil Batman. If Main Universe Batman had been incompetent, Owlman might have had some chance to rise to power. Now, that possibility was completely gone.
