Since the Three Great Empires of the universe were all humanoid species—or rather, since most advanced civilizations were humanoid—they also had standard formalwear similar to human suits. Coincidentally, it looked quite a lot like a human suit, though it had actually originated from the military uniforms of the two great Mechanical Empires. It was therefore more ornate than ordinary formalwear, generally featuring a sash over the left breast, a badge over the right, and a sharp, tailored cut that gave the wearer a solemn air.
Such clothing was generally called Imperial attire throughout the universe. Even those who were not members of the Three Great Empires wore it as formal dress for important occasions; it was an unwritten rule of interstellar etiquette.
The Shi'ar Empire favored flamboyant colors, usually using vivid red or bright blue as the base, with gold or silver sashes. Their belts were made from gleaming fabric, with a large gemstone set squarely in the center.
The Skrull Empire and Kree Empire were far more restrained. They favored old-fashioned clothing, mostly in black and dark blue, reserving white for only the most important and solemn occasions. Their sashes generally matched the color scheme of their clothes, while their belts alone bore modest metal decorations.
There were also differences between the two empires. When representatives of both nations appeared together, the Skrull Empire chose warm colors while the Kree Empire chose cool colors, making them easy to distinguish.
Of course, they could also choose to wear the clothing of their own people. For instance, when Asgard attended an Interstellar Council meeting, they never wore Imperial attire. They either wore traditional Asgardian clothing or human suits.
