Benjamin looked at Lionel's corpse. He could clearly see a deep bruise on Lionel's jaw, which did indeed look like it had been caused by a blow. It matched Schiller's description.
After glossing over the key parts of his conversation with Lionel, Schiller briefly explained how they had communicated. At the end, he said, "After knocking him down, I intended to leave directly. But before I left, I saw what seemed to be a shadow near the window..."
"A shadow?" Benjamin frowned and swept his gaze over everyone in the room. But to his surprise, Selene was the first to speak.
"After I finished my late-night snack, I wanted to go for a walk. But it was snowing outside, and agents were everywhere in the halls, so I simply jumped down from the balcony."
Benjamin stared at Selene's beautiful face. There was no doubt that her features were exquisite, with a charm that made it hard to look away. But no matter how he looked at her, Selene seemed more like a socialite who belonged on a dance floor than a female agent capable of climbing around the outside of a building.
Just as Benjamin was about to refute her, he felt a gust of cool air brush past his face. With a whoosh, he turned and saw a hairpin embedded in the crack between the bricks of the wall behind him. Selene withdrew her hand, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Don't ask how I did it. Just listen."
As Selene spoke, time slowly rewound once more, returning to the moment after Schiller knocked Lionel to the floor.
As Schiller turned to leave, he caught sight of a faint shadow outside the floor-to-ceiling window behind him.
