Lex Luthor paced around his office, waiting for news. He had indeed worked with that woman a few times. She was a qualified broker who had helped him handle some dirty work that was difficult to deal with. But this was the first time he had sent them to do something like this.
It had better work. They had better succeed. The dark thoughts circling in Lex's mind were almost taking tangible form. If this succeeded, perhaps...
His phone sounded another alert. Lex rushed over and picked it up. Before he could make out the details of the alert, a violent explosion rang out. He turned his head and watched helplessly as a massive explosion erupted above Luthor Manor.
"Damn it!" he cursed through gritted teeth.
Then he immediately realized that the thief from last night had failed to steal it and had switched to a home invasion. What kind of Magic Power did that gem possess that they were willing to make such a huge scene over it?!
Unfortunately, the item was not at the manor. It was not even with him. Though the gem was important, the clues on the mural were even more important. So he still had to wait here for news.
Above Luthor Manor, Diana surveyed her handiwork with satisfaction. She had not actually attacked the manor. She had merely used her divine power to blow up a hill on the mountain beside it, making it look as if the manor had been attacked.
Before that, she had punched the vault door. That was the only way to trigger the security system's alarm. Once they saw the commotion she had caused, they would know she was determined to get it. If the item really was there, they would certainly try to move it.
