After a loud bang, Benjamin fell to the ground. Schiller watched him slowly collapse, then looked up at Lex in surprise.

Schiller was genuinely a little surprised. Lex's logic had gone beyond anything he expected.

Although he had long known that Lex was not being controlled, he had no idea why Lex had attacked Benjamin. Benjamin had accused Schiller of being the murderer, not Lex. Why had Lex struck him?

Schiller ran through the entire sequence of events in his mind.

Lionel had invited him into the reception room, intending to threaten him with some leverage. Then Schiller had struck Lionel with his umbrella handle, knocked him to the floor, and left.

Afterward, Selene had come to install surveillance equipment in the reception room and happened to run into Lionel, who had just climbed up from the floor. The two had some conflict. Selene swung a vase at Lionel, knocked him down again, and left.

Benjamin had probably wanted to discuss something with Lionel, so he came to the reception room. But Lionel, whose defenses had already been broken, cursed Benjamin furiously and revealed that Schiller had killed someone in an incident two years ago. Benjamin clashed with him, then knocked him unconscious.

Benjamin was an agent, so his control over force should have been reliable. As the person in charge representing some official power, he could not possibly have dealt Luthor a lethal blow. In other words, Lionel had not died by that point. He had merely been knocked unconscious.

But now, Lionel lying on the floor was undoubtedly dead. In other words, the first, second, and third people to meet Lionel had not killed him. The one who had truly killed him was the fourth murderer.

Schiller looked at Lex and asked, "Did you kill Lionel?"

"No." Lex
