In the dimly lit laboratory, the Black man seated at the lab bench adjusted his glasses, then looked up at the other figure busy at a workbench. The other man looked young and carried himself with refinement, but his head was completely shaved. His face showed a trace of weariness, yet his hands never slowed.
"Doctor, please help me export that analysis report on Kryptonian atmospheric composition again." The bald youth spoke without looking up. "I need to run one final comparison. If nothing goes wrong, the synthesis succeeded."
The Black man stood, walked over to the printer, printed the report again, and handed it to the youth. Then he said, "You should rest for a while, Mr. Luthor."
"I'm fine, Dr. Stone. By the way, has Superman contacted you again? Is he not continuing his desensitization training?"
Dr. Stone, as he was called, shook his head. "No. He no longer needs desensitization."
Lex looked up at him.
"It became part of him."
"I don't understand."
"He absorbed the Kryptonite." Dr. Stone spread his hands. "I know that sounds unbelievable, but he did it. It proves that this species is stronger than we imagined, that it truly possesses limitless potential."
"Hmph." Lex snorted. "So strong, yet they still wiped themselves out playing around."
"Human civilization is still very young." Dr. Stone's voice remained calm. "Modern humans have only existed for a short time. It may seem like we face no risk of extinction now, but that is because we are still toddlers learning to walk. Only when civilization reaches middle age or old age will its physical constitution truly be tested."
"I don't think we'll make it to middle age or old age." Lex said coldly. "Those damned politicians and officers—if the world is ruled by them, we'll go extinct
