On the fourth floor of the manor, where the guest rooms occupied by Bruce and Selene were located, Bruce was dragging the still-unconscious Benjamin toward the stairs through the dark corridor, while Selene kept watch ahead of him.
As the chief supervisor of all the agents in the manor, Benjamin's disappearance for most of the night had already put all the agents on alert. If Benjamin had not often carried out secret missions alone in the past without informing his subordinates, and if the other agents had not been so familiar with his working style, they would have searched the entire manor long ago.
Still, this gave Bruce an opportunity to question Benjamin. He and Selene moved Benjamin into a storage room on the third floor. As Bruce dragged him inside, Selene stood outside with one hand on the door and told him, "You'd better hurry."
As she spoke, she looked toward the window at the far end of the corridor. Faint lights flickered there, as though someone carrying a flashlight had passed by. Selene turned to Bruce and said, "The explosion in the reception room earlier was too loud. They'll definitely start searching from there."
Then she glanced down at her watch and said, "It takes six or seven minutes to get from the reception room back to our bedroom. Even if the search slows them down, they'll find this place within twenty minutes at most."
Selene's brows drew tighter and tighter. She said, "Forget it. I'll go make some noise over there and buy you some time. You'd better get this done quickly."
With that, she turned and left. Bruce shut the storage room door and began trying to wake Benjamin.
