Diana sat up in her apartment bed and let out a deep sigh. After checking her watch and wiping her face, she went to the bathroom to wash up. Thinking of everything that had happened lately, even the brave, battle-hardened heroine could not help feeling exhausted.
Steve's blue eyes had appeared in her dreams countless times. She tossed and turned, thinking of him day and night.
But Diana could not regard this resurrected Steve as her true lover. From Hal and Barry, she had learned that the resurrection of their loved ones might have been the work of the hidden culprit behind the Dark Force's corruption. Though Diana was deeply reluctant, she could only leave Steve in the Amazon queen's custody for the time being.
Logically, he should have been sent to the United States. After all, experts from all over the world had gathered there to study these impostors. But Steve had once crashed into the Amazons' lands, and Diana had told him much about the Amazons. Sending him rashly to the United States might let more people pry into the Amazons' secrets, something the queen was unwilling to allow. Thus, they had compromised and locked him in the queen's prison.
Seeing him again so suddenly had stirred up too many memories, and Diana had slept poorly for days. She had wanted to take leave, but the Metropolis Museum's Christmas break was already over, and she did not want to request more personal leave. So she chose to return to work in Metropolis.
After getting ready, Diana drove out. Everyone had only recently returned to work, so the roads were packed and somewhat congested. On her way to the Metropolis Museum, Diana received a call from her superior.
"Yes, traffic is pretty bad, but I'll be there soon... What?!"
