A lively figure sprang into view. Jena set two cups of hot tea before them. She wore a red dress and makeup, and as she sat on the single sofa in the middle, she said somewhat awkwardly, "Sorry, I didn't know there'd been a murder. Should I go change?"
"What time did rehearsal run until?" Schiller asked.
"Past one." Jena said, "Amanda needed something from me earlier, and that held me up for a few hours. By the time I got back, they were almost done rehearsing. I could only squeeze in an emergency practice session. Luckily, my dance partner was willing to cooperate."
"What did Amanda want from you?"
"It was strange," Jena said. "She said Bruce suddenly came to her, asking to have his parents' graves restored. I couldn't think of any reason he would hand something like that over to Federal Shield. But he intended to have Amanda handle it."
"What were you responsible for?"
"Security." Jena said, "For people as important as them, even relocating graves requires a ceremony, something to comfort the spirits of the dead. I'll have to accompany them the whole day. They say it's security, but I think I'm really just there to make up the numbers. More people makes it look more solemn."
"Was that worth seeking you out personally?"
"Not exactly personally. People from the Federal Bureau of Investigation were called too. They'll be going as well." Jena paused, snapped shut her compact mirror, and said, "We all say Amanda's crazy in private, but if Bruce gave her a huge sum of money, maybe we'll get bonuses too. Relocating graves is relocating graves."
"What about Barry? Has he gone home already?"
"No, he's still working overtime. Should I call him over?"
