When the Joker finished speaking, the atmosphere throughout the entire manor froze. Everything fell silent, leaving only the howling wind and snow outside the windows.
Batman saw from the surveillance room that the people who had just pressed their buttons had frozen beside their phones. Some extended their hands again, seemingly hesitating over whether to change their choices.
One elderly man, well past fifty with graying temples, stood with one hand on his hip and a phone in the other. He said in a booming voice:
"Luthor Corp is finished! I'd bet the whole corporation depended on Luthor alone, but he had it coming. While he was alive, he kept all the power in his own hands, and his son is an idiot. Now look what happened!"
Many people shared his opinion. They were all old foxes who had spent their lives navigating the business world. They might not have known every detail of Luthor Corp, but they knew plenty. The entire corporation had, in fact, been completely under Lionel Luthor's control.
As far as they knew, if old Luthor died without leaving behind a successor, the corporation was doomed.
Very soon, many of them realized that Luthor Corp's only legitimate heir was currently hanging from the ceiling. With one press of a button, he would be blown to pieces.
Once he died, Luthor Corp would have no chance of making a comeback. Never mind that some people familiar with the Luthors could take the opportunity to carve up the corpse; the market space left behind by Luthor
