"Bruce... Bruce..."
A distant, low female voice echoed through the dark space, like a vinyl record reaching its final groove, making the entire space tremble with it, making one realize that sound and attention both had power—and that it was cold beyond compare, vast and irresistible.
"Bruce Wayne..."
She kept calling, "These things can't hold you... wake up... wake up..."
When Bruce came back from his daze, he thought the voice he had heard was an illusion. He mumbled and was about to fall asleep again, only for the voice to suddenly rise in pitch.
"Bruce Wayne!"
That startled Bruce. He looked left and right, saw nothing, and ventured, "Who are you?"
"Bruce... look at me... Bruce..."
Bruce opened his mouth to argue, but the immense power contained in that voice made him understand that angering the other party was not a wise move. So he cleared his throat and asked, "Where are you?"
"Look this way... look this way..."
"Oh, I get it. You don't know where I am right now, so in order to make me reveal my position on my own, you need my gaze to locate me. Isn't that trick a little old-fashioned? Did you pay the Outer Gods for the copyright?" Bruce simply closed his eyes.
"I said, look at me!!"
The female voice roared in a low tone. A tremendous force swept across the entire Origin Wall. Bruce had no choice but to open his eyes again and look straight ahead. "It's not that I won't look at you. I really can't see you."
"Do not use your eyes... gaze with your heart... gaze upon the darkness within you..."
Bruce's eyes shifted. "What darkness should I have inside me?"
"They left you here... in this endless, lonely universe... to keep company with the darkness..."
