In an instant, Anatoly and Lucifer were submerged. More precisely, Anatoly was swept into the passage by the water, while Lucifer was slammed against the door. Because if he did not adjust his angle, there was no way he could be washed through the doorway with his wings; instead, his whole body ended up spread across it.
His wings greatly reduced the force of the water's impact, keeping the water from immediately filling the passage. Not only did that leave breathing space above the passage, it also kept Anatoly from being swept too far away. He could even swim back across the surface. Though the water was still rising, the speed was more than enough for him to make it back.
But Lucifer had it miserable. His wings had already been injured, and after being hit like this, the pain made him instinctively open his mouth and cry out. But he had forgotten that he was mortal now and needed to breathe. The moment he opened his mouth, he choked on water.
When Anatoly swam back as fast as he could, he found Lucifer already struggling in the water. He took a deep breath, held it, then sank to the bottom and swam back through the space on the other side of the door, arriving in front of Lucifer.
He once again looped an arm around Lucifer's neck, trying to drag him over. But because of the current and the water pressure, Lucifer's whole body was pinned against the door, and the move did not achieve the effect he had expected. In the muddy water, Anatoly glanced at Lucifer's condition and felt he probably would not last much longer.
Holding his breath, Anatoly took out the steel needle. Just then, the flooding finally ended, and the current was no longer
