Thinking back carefully over the mechanisms, things like needles shooting out of doors went without saying—they were disgusting traps with no technical merit whatsoever. Opening and closing doors, filling and draining water, those could not really count as mechanisms either, since they could be controlled manually. The first one that could be called a large-scale mechanism was the Scale.

But the Scale mechanism system did not only include the Scale in that room. It was the Scales in all three rooms, plus the six ceilings supporting them from above. That entire setup made up the Scale mechanism system.

The level of this mechanism system was not bad. After all, it was obvious with a little thought that making this kind of mechanism operate smoothly through purely physical means required a certain degree of professional skill. True, it broke in the end, but that was only because it could not withstand violent destruction. The parts within its operating rules had no problems.

However, the entire mechanism only served as a tool and did not participate in the game at all. The Scale showed the players lowering and rising, and at most, the side with the bloody basin allowed players to judge whether they were the first to arrive. The whole game process had nothing to do with the Scale.

The game was based on players' moral judgment of those who came before and after them. But the mechanism did not provide any information for judging good and evil, including but not limited to: exactly how many people had donated blood, how long they had stayed in the room, whether one person in a team donated or both people did. All of these were important pieces of information.
