Just as Jonathan and Hugo were discussing the details of the plan, they suddenly heard a faint noise outside the door. Both of them immediately looked toward it warily.

Hugo walked to the door. The instant he opened it, he ducked backward, only to see a vaguely familiar man standing outside. The man raised a hand in greeting and smiled, showing eight teeth.

"Sorry, roomie. I wasn't trying to follow you. Has anyone ever told you that your acting is terrible? It was impossible not to notice."

Hugo's face immediately darkened.

With a muffled bang, a silenced pistol fired—but it was Jonathan standing behind Hugo who had pulled the trigger.

Looking at Constantine lying in a pool of blood, Jonathan said to Hugo with considerable displeasure, "You actually brought a tail with you?! You keep making me doubt your professionalism, Hugo. I think I need to reconsider whether there's any need for us to work together."

Hugo frowned at Constantine's corpse. Just as he was about to say something, a sound came from behind Jonathan.

The two turned around together and saw Constantine standing behind them. "Mate, your shooting is just as bad as his acting."

When Hugo turned back toward the corpse, he found it slowly turning to ash, while the blood vanished as well.

Before he could ask, Constantine spread his hands. "As you can see, I'm a magician."

"You all know how prejudiced people are against magic. I tell them I can use magic, and they treat me like a lunatic and lock me in here. I heard you're planning to escape? How about taking me with you?"

Jonathan lowered his pistol. Looking at Constantine's smile, he lowered his gaze and said, "It seems you'd make a better partner than he would."
