Arkham Batman had his own exclusive background music too. To be fair, the music Doctor Manhattan had matched him with was pretty convincing. When Pursuer was playing the ghost, the track had been a violin piece, but for Arkham Batman, it shifted into deeper cello and bassoon, with a faintly melancholy gothic tone. Rather than tension, it felt more like a slowly approaching horror.
Pursuer's previous track had even managed to stir up the tension in Arkham Batman's heart, so he had copied the method, wanting to use the ghost's background music to build himself a terrifying image. Unfortunately, he had picked the wrong target. Lucifer did not buy it at all.
"I'm warning you, don't come any closer." Lucifer was still trying to negotiate with him. "You know I've got a skill that can freeze you in place. If you come over, I'll control you right here, then swagger right past you. That's a little embarrassing for the invincible Batman, right?"
Arkham Batman was briefly at a loss for how to reply. Lucifer had absolutely no immersion when playing this kind of game. He had not put himself into the role of a tense Gambler on the run, nor had he treated Arkham Batman as a new character. He was still using the same old approach as before.
When Agent arrived, this was the scene he saw. Honestly, his shot had not saved Lucifer, but Arkham Batman, who was considering whether to teach Lucifer a lesson—now he had no choice. He had to catch both these flies.
And that was exactly what Agent wanted. Agent landed his shot, and Lucifer turned and ran, rushing into a nearby private room, passing through the door from that room back to this side, and appearing behind Agent.
