Hal had just used Green Lantern energy to teleport to Oa and was taking in the scenery around the teleportation platform. It was a completely transparent, cylindrical chamber, and through the surrounding glass, he could see an eye-opening alien city.
The most conspicuous structure was a massive green spiral building closest to them, so tall that its end was nowhere in sight. Many irregular high-rises surrounded it, connected by transparent glass corridors, while numerous Green Lanterns radiating green light flew back and forth between them.
Just as Hal was engrossed in the sight, a squad of Green Lanterns strode in through the teleportation chamber's only door. The man at the front saluted Hal.
Hal returned the salute as described in the Green Lantern ring. The young Green Lantern said solemnly, "Hal Jordan, it's a pleasure to meet you. Welcome to our family."
"Thank you."
"Please come with me. Our Corps Leader wants to see you." As the young Green Lantern spoke, several Green Lanterns behind him slowly moved to stand behind Hal.
Hal had trained at an air force base and possessed basic military awareness. He frowned, realizing that they meant trouble.
But he did not show any panic. Before coming here, Schiller had walked him through the possible scenarios, and the other Green Lanterns' reaction had not gone beyond Schiller's expectations.
Hal had considered it as well. When Green Lanterns accepted their rings and registered as members of the Green Lantern Corps, their names would be sent to the Corps headquarters. If the Corps Leader wanted to investigate, he could find out a Green Lantern's name and which Sector they came from. Every Green Lantern used their real name at headquarters.
So Hal knew that after so much energy had suddenly been consumed, the Corps Leader would certainly investigate
