Inside the Corps Leader's office at Green Lantern Corps headquarters, Taron shook hands with Schiller.
Taron had learned from Hal that shaking hands was an Earth custom. His willingness to take the initiative with the gesture meant that he trusted Hal's judgment and believed Schiller truly had the ability to help them break through their current predicament.
Schiller made a welcoming gesture. Taron and Hal sat on opposite sides of the desk, while Schiller took the seat in front of it.
Hal turned to Schiller and said, "I already told you before that the situation we're facing is dire. On one hand, Green Lantern energy is running low, and voices of discontent are rising in many subordinate sectors. On the other, the Guardians of the Universe want to create a Green Lantern military police force to restrict the Green Lantern Corps."
Hearing that Hal had not mentioned the kickbacks, Taron cleared his throat and put on a solemn expression as well. "That's right. Hal told me you have more experience handling this sort of matter..."
Schiller lowered his head and smiled. "I'm sure there are many capable people in the Green Lantern Corps, and I'm hardly indispensable. It's merely that times have changed, and there are too few people available now. My advice is only meant to spark discussion, so please take it with a grain of salt..."
"Enough with the pleasantries." Hal interrupted Schiller's bureaucratic spiel. "There are no surveillance devices in this room. We're all tied to the same rope now. How exactly do we break this deadlock?"
Schiller glanced at Hal, his expression clearly saying, Why didn't you say so earlier?
He immediately dropped that insincere smile, took out two documents, and handed one each to Taron and Hal.
Taron narrowed his eyes at the large words
