In the eastern suburbs of New York, some distance from the city's bustling center, the air was fresh and the scenery pleasant.
By United States municipal planning standards, this place should have counted as a town. Yet unlike the small towns most people imagined, it was actually another Affluent Area of New York—or rather, the true Affluent Area. Land prices here were even higher than in some parts of Manhattan.
The living environment here was quite good. The town had a long history and complete facilities, but most importantly, it had an excellent sanatorium.
Bille Sanatorium had been founded during the reconstruction era of the United States. It was acquired by a wealthy businessman and renovated for the first time during World War II. During the Cold War after World War II, it was completely demolished, only to be rebuilt after the Cold War ended.
In modern times, real estate developers had thoroughly renovated the historic sanatorium in order to raise land prices in New York's suburbs, turning it into a modern recuperation center.
Previously, its owner appeared to have been an ordinary oil tycoon, but he had actually worked for the FSB, more commonly known as the KGB.
After all KGB agents near New York were purged in the aftermath of the Hydra incident, the oil tycoon was sent back to Russia and his property was confiscated. However, it had now changed hands and become the newly established Arkham Asylum.
Because this sanatorium had been built so early and had endured numerous renovations without ever disappearing, its final major renovation gave it a world-class recuperation environment. Combined with its pleasant natural surroundings and convenient transportation near New York, real estate developers saw its potential and built a wealthy resort community around it, commonly known as a weekend villa district.
