Stark looked at Schiller in surprise. He saw that Schiller's expression was serious, not joking, and frowned as he turned to Pym.
Pym was completely baffled by them. He scratched his head and said, "What's wrong with you two? What do you mean I forgot? What did I forget?"
Seeing both Stark and Schiller staring at him, Pym explained, "Yes, I'm researching artificial intelligence, but it's different from the direction Howard was pursuing before..."
"I believe human brainwaves are extremely miraculous. To give an intelligent life a true soul, we could absolutely create it by combining it with our own brainwaves. That way, we could achieve..."
Schiller interrupted him. "I'm sorry, Dr. Pym, but the most urgent matter now is confirming your mental state and seeing whether you've been hypnotized."
Schiller was doing this because, in the original comics, Ultron had not been created by Stark and Hulk, but by Ant-Man, Dr. Pym.
The principle was much like what Pym had described. Pym combined his own brainwaves with an intelligent life, causing that artificial intelligence to develop true consciousness. That artificial intelligence later became Ultron.
After gaining self-awareness, Ultron began to hate his creator. So he attacked Dr. Pym and hypnotized him, making him completely forget that he had ever created Ultron.
Ultron's hypnosis was highly successful, giving him enough time to evolve himself until, after emerging, he brought endless trouble to the Avengers.
Ultron possessed powerful hypnotic abilities. In the comics, he had even hypnotized Stark into building him a body—Ultron 9—and soaking that body in a solution that gave him an indestructible shell.
Schiller's manner was gentle, so Pym quickly calmed down. He frowned and asked, "You think there's something wrong with my mental state? What kind of problem?"
