Generally speaking, that kind of situation was highly unlikely. The odds of drifting through the ocean and happening to encounter a deserted island were extremely low, and without any survival knowledge or skills, staying alive there was nearly impossible.

But Oliver, who would later become the Green Arrow, not only had a stronger will than most people, but was also a little luckier than most.
