"Time travel? I time-traveled?" Peter Parker found it even harder to believe. "Oh, wait, I just checked the calendar. It's December now..."
"What are you talking about? It's clearly early October. Did you forget that you just started college?" Stark said to him.
"So I... I came to the future? But how could that happen? I clearly..."
Peter spoke in confusion, his voice growing quieter and quieter as though he had remembered something. The images in his mind returned to the moment of Schiller's death.
An indescribable sorrow engulfed him. Grief, pain, anxiety, guilt, regret—every kind of emotion surrounded him. But the biggest question in his mind was that he could have had a chance to undo all of this.
Before he left his own universe, Stark, Strange, and Schiller had given him an enormous amount of magical energy—enough to feed a Cosmic Demon. Yet that energy had simply remained stored inside Peter's body, and he had no idea how to use it.
Peter admitted that he did not particularly like mysticism. He had no interest in those philosophical explanations full of metaphors, so he had never imagined he would need this kind of power.
So when he saw Schiller's death, his first thought was, Why didn't I study magic properly?
Why hadn't I learned to use this energy? If I had, maybe I could have saved Doctor Schiller.
That thought was somewhat extreme, but Peter had been controlled by all kinds of negative emotions at the time and could not shake it.
But Peter truly knew nothing about magic. So when the thought of learning magic arose, he only remembered one sentence—the words everyone had told him when they asked him to bring the magical energy core to Stark: "The secret of magic is making your wishes come true."
