Peter instantly leaped backward, only to realize that his Spider-Sense hadn't gone off. He turned his head from side to side, but didn't see Schiller anywhere. Who was Stark talking about?
"Peter, you came at just the right time! Catch him!"
"What? Who? Where?" Peter had just landed and was looking around in confusion.
This was Stark Tower's laboratory, but its current state would have driven any researcher mad. Every bookshelf and filing cabinet had been knocked over, the workbenches had been torn to pieces, and there were bite marks from some unknown creature on the chair legs.
Peter looked up and saw Stark extend a hand. With a boom, he fired a blast into his own floor. Peter gaped in shock. "Mr. Stark! What are you doing? That floor was just replaced! Miss Pepper is going to be angry!"
"I'm catching someone! Can't you see that?" Stark said, somewhat exasperated. "Help me catch him!!"
"Someone? Where is he? I don't see anyone?!" Peter was still standing there blankly. He suspected he was hallucinating; there were clearly only Stark and himself in the entire laboratory.
Just then, Peter's Spider-Sense twitched faintly. A reaction at that level meant there was no lethal danger. Peter merely shifted one step to the side, then felt a sharp pain at the back of his head.
"Ow!" Peter cried.
He rubbed the back of his head and looked toward where the unknown attack had come from, but there was nothing there.
"Ow!" Peter cried again. His shoulder hurt, and when he turned toward that direction, a section of a workbench moved. Peter jumped backward with a start and stammered, "W-wait... it can't be bugs, can it?!"
