"Come on, Bruce, I know you've been in a bad mood lately, but you can't push yourself so hard. There's nothing wrong with relaxing for one night. Whatever work you have can wait until tomorrow during the day..."
Selene dragged over a chair and sat beside Bruce, resting a hand on his shoulder. She blew softly against his cheek and said, "We haven't seen each other in days. Do you really have to be busy right now?"
"Specific symptom analysis of Anxiety Disorder... Haven't I written on this topic before? I remember it being last month's assignment... I misjudged the word count earlier. I'm afraid I have a sixty-thousand-word paper to write..."
"What did you say?" Selene had not caught Bruce's muttering. She straightened up and fixed him with those big eyes of hers, scanning him from head to toe before her gaze settled around his middle.
Selene slowly folded her arms and narrowed her eyes. "Maggie told me that if a man suddenly loses interest in you, it means he must have found someone new!"
"Bruce Wayne!" Selene slammed a hand onto the desk. "So that's why you've been acting so weird lately! You cheating bastard!"
With that, she snorted sharply and rose to leave. Yet even after she had taken two steps away, Bruce remained where he was, utterly motionless.
Selene was nearly mad with rage. A normal couple who had not seen each other for so long should at least spend two or three hours being affectionate, right? And she had even patiently tried to comfort Bruce, worried that his recent stress had left him mentally unstable. Instead, it was like putting on a show for a blind man—he did not react at all.
