Bruce was somewhat stunned. When he had first seen Selene standing before him, he had been quite surprised. But he had never expected that Selene had not come to reunite with him after a long separation, nor for the joy of a brief parting followed by a newlywed-like reunion. She had come to settle accounts with him.
Selene had returned so decisively not because she was worried about Bruce's mental state. Maggie had simply told her that Bruce was packing things in her place and planning to move in, and in a fit of rage, she had rushed back.
Selene kept hurling curses. "You damned, rule-breaking rich asshole! Do you know this will make it impossible for me to get by in the East End from now on?! Boyfriend?? Even if you were my husband, you couldn't move into my apartment! The apartment I rent is for me alone. Everyone else can get the hell out!!!!"
Growing more enraged, Selene dragged Bruce through the East End streets and back to the apartment where she had originally lived. The moment they entered, they ran straight into the landlord coming down the stairs.
