The renovation plan for the East End was proceeding in full swing, but before long, the first resistance emerged. Four gangs from Elizabeth Street jointly filed a protest, demanding an explanation from the Twelve Families. The Wayne Family was building things on their turf again without informing them, and had even killed several of their men.
The heads of the Twelve Families convened a meeting and decided to summon Bruce Wayne for a talk, though they did not expect this playboy to offer any real explanation.
Up to this point, the Twelve Families still believed that Bruce Wayne had simply had a sudden impulse to save Gotham, gotten carried away, and launched some renovation project. Perhaps after playing around with it for a while, he would lose interest.
Bruce no longer intended to keep up the act, so he arrived at the meeting with his advisory team.
"Let me introduce the chief planner of this renovation project, John. John, please explain to these gentlemen what I intend to do and what benefits it will bring..."
The moment John stepped forward, one of the Twelve Families' leaders said, "Mr. Wayne, we understand you. We understand your kindness and your desire to improve the living conditions there, but you have to give us some face too..."
"The four leaders from Elizabeth Street have been hounding me for three days. They nearly carried the dead men's coffins to my doorstep. What am I supposed to do?"
Bruce cleared his throat and said, "Elizabeth Street is six kilometers from the area I'm renovating. How is that their territory?"
"The Blue Jackets Gang told me they killed the gang boss there, reclaimed the territory, and became the new bosses."
"Right when my project had just started?"
Hearing the sarcasm in Bruce's voice, the gang leader
