Late at night, the S.H.I.E.L.D. base was no longer so busy. In the dead of night, only the flickering lights of the offices remained. Most employees had already gone home to rest, while those who had not yet left were packing up.
Through the silent corridors and beyond the transparent glass office partitions, quite a few staff members in the S.H.I.E.L.D. base's administrative area were sorting through documents, placing them into folders, intending to deal with the unfinished matters the next day.
"Hey, Lord, it's rare that we aren't working overtime today. How about going out?" A Black man in a shirt leaned against the doorway and spoke to another man dressed for fieldwork. The blonde woman beside them rolled her eyes. "Did you have to say that while I'm here? It makes me look like a third wheel!... You two talk. I still need to go upstairs."
"What is it, Monica? You're not getting off work?" The Black man adjusted his tie. Monica shrugged and said, "The scheduling team is never as idle as you people. We're swamped. Don't you know Director Fury is going out for a meeting today? We still have to arrange a car and security agents to escort him. I need to coordinate with the Security Department..."
The white man called Lord lightly pinched the corner of a document and casually said, "Director Fury is going to another meeting? He's been going to the United Nations a lot lately. Who knows where all these matters are coming from..."
"If he were going to the United Nations, would I need to make a special trip to the Security Department? All United Nations matters are handled by that little vixen Madelina."
"Then where is he going? Is there anything important happening lately?" Lord asked again.
