Peter shook his head hard, then squeezed his eyes shut until his brows and eyelids pressed into a single line. When he opened them again, the tears clinging to his lashes blurred into shining halos.
Peter saw his arm wave in front of his eyes, but it took several seconds before he regained control of his body. The next instant, he sprang up and assumed a defensive stance, only to realize that his Spider-Sense had not gone off.
The faces of the three people before him were all extremely familiar: Nick Fury, Coulson, and Dr. Dora, all of whom should have been dead long ago.
Even stranger, each of them had a halo floating above their head, glowing brightly.
For a moment, Peter felt as though his brain had stopped working. He looked down at his hands and found that they were no different from what he remembered.
He opened his mouth again and found that his voice was slightly delayed. When he tried to stand straight, the instant he exerted force, he discovered that he had floated up. Peter's eyes widened in shock, but then a bug-catching net came down over him.
The three haloed people immediately gathered around him. Nick said, "I knew it. Even Spider-Man would definitely start flying when he first got here. So it was perfectly normal for me to fly back then too, right?"
Coulson looked at Peter and said, "Seriously, I lost again. I thought Spider-Man had better coordination and wouldn't make that mistake."
Dr. Dora adjusted her glasses and said, "Instead of wasting time betting here, you two should go help out in the laboratory. Let's go."
After saying that, Dr. Dora turned to leave. Schiller lifted away the bug net, and Peter stood up. He turned back to Schiller and asked,
