In the corridors of S.H.I.E.L.D., Schiller carried a medical chart toward the infirmary. Nick Fury, his face dark, walked toward him. Schiller nodded to him, but Nick gave no response at all.
Though his dark skin made changes in his complexion difficult to discern, the savage downward twist of his mouth and the bulging veins at his temples made it obvious that he had just lost his temper and was still furious.
After Nick Fury brushed past Schiller, Schiller shook his head and headed for the room he was looking for. The door had not fully closed; clearly, Nick had just come out of here as well.
Inside were two hospital beds. Captain America lay on one of them, his arm wrapped in bandages, seemingly taking a nap. Yet the slight tremble of his eyelashes showed that he was not asleep, and that his mind was troubled.
Schiller turned and saw a cup smashed on the floor. Water stains clung to the soles of shoes, with footprints leading all the way outside. A fierce argument must have taken place in this room just moments ago, but by the time Schiller arrived, only Captain America's somewhat heavy breathing remained.
Schiller sat down beside the bed and set the chart aside. Looking at Captain America, he asked, "What happened? Did you argue with the Director? Why?"
Captain America raised an arm to cover his eyes, seemingly unwilling to let Schiller see his expression. He said, "Schiller... no, Doctor Maner, you served as a military doctor in the Polaris fleet for so long. Don't you understand our commander by now?"
