In the medical office at the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, several Skrulls stood in the room discussing something. Barak, who had originally been disguised as Captain America, spoke with a grave expression:
"Gana is probably doomed. You've been on Earth long enough to know the Sorcerer Supreme's and Odin's tempers. We're tenants living here, yet Gana wanted to take the house for himself. They won't allow that..."
Talos, standing across from him, said, "The reason I didn't want to join Gana in infiltrating human society and waiting for an opportunity was because I knew his plan would never succeed."
"If humans were really so easy to defeat, they couldn't have held this place. Odin rules the Nine Realms, but he can't watch everything. Over countless millennia, we haven't been the only ones to infiltrate Earth. Too many forces have had their eyes on this place."
"The reason they haven't spoken out is partly because they fear Odin and the Sorcerer Supreme. But it's also because many aliens like me, who have lived peacefully in human society for years, have already accepted this life."
"We were all born on spaceships. There were no vast blue skies, no fragrant land, no stable sun shining over all things. Through our ship's portholes, all we saw was the black universe and the fleeting trails of meteors."
"If Skrulls could never have a stable homeland, then why couldn't I come live on Earth? So many aliens longed for this beautiful greenhouse, yet had no way to integrate into this society."
Talos maintained Natasha's appearance and seemed to have no intention of changing back. He said, "There's nothing wrong with being human. Since we have the ability to shapeshift and disguise ourselves, this kind of life is what we deserve. Barak, stop dwelling on those glorious old days.
