Zatanna opened her mouth. She felt that something was off, so she scrutinized Alfred again, but found no trace of magic having been used on him. Seeing her bewildered expression, Alfred explained:
"Master Wayne was once extremely fascinated by the occult for a period of time. As his butler, I needed to organize the materials he wished to investigate. I acquired quite a bit of knowledge from them."
"But... that's impossible. Bruce doesn't know much about the occult either. In ordinary human society, it is almost impossible to find genuine occult knowledge." Zatanna refuted him instinctively.
"Yes, but butlers of the Pennyworth Family have always had to deal with their employers' interest in magic. Learning how to tell whether a magician is a lousy fraud is a required course for Pennyworth Family butlers."
