Just as the exhausted miner slaves lay sprawled against the tunnel walls, preparing to rest for a while, a rumbling suddenly rose from beneath the ground. Every demon immediately scrambled to its feet, looking around in terror.

Batman, lost in thought, was startled awake as well, but he immediately realized what was happening. He lowered his head, his gaze piercing through layers of rock toward the sea of lava at the very bottom of the mine.

"Someone is stirring the magma! Someone is stirring the magma!" the Serpent Demon Elder cried. "This is an ancient fire spell. It can make magma surge into huge waves, and it can also trigger a volcanic eruption! Hurry! Get out of here!"

At the words "magma eruption," a concept immediately flashed through Batman's mind: "mountain structure."

The mountain structure of a mine differed from that of ordinary peaks. There were far too many cavities within it, large and small cavities nested together into a complex web. Such terrain was naturally ideal for tunnel warfare.
